Stevia leaf
Stevia is a sweetener approved by the Food and Drug Administration of Europe and the Americas. Stevia has become increasingly popular in recent years.
Stevia is a plant in the chrysanthemum family and a subgroup of the apricot plant. You should know that there are many differences between the stevia you make at home and the stevia inside the store. Stevia products on store shelves do not contain the leaves of this plant and are made from highly refined stevia leaf extract called rebaudioside A or Reb-A.
The sugar substitute is extracted from the stevia plant (Robodiana), which grows naturally in Brazil and Paraguay and has been used for hundreds of years as a food sweetener, to cure burns and stomach upset. The sweetness of this plant is derived from its natural glycosides, which are extracted from stevia leaves during a process. This process begins with placing the stevia leaves in warm water.
